Ayo Sopitan
Chairman (Acting CEO)

Ayo is the Founder/CEO of Metalex Africa, a carbon-neutral producer of critical minerals required for the green energy transition. Metalex incubated Misitu Africa.
​
Before venturing into entrepreneurship, Ayo held various roles at Bank of America, EY, Accenture and S&P Global over a 15 year career.
​
He holds degrees from Bryant University in Rhode Island, New York University and is a Fellow at the Legatum Center for Development and Entrepreneurship at MIT.

Mayin-jesu Deborah Ehinlaiye
Sustainability Lead/Copywriter

Deborah brings a strong background in geology with hands-on experience across the mining, oil & gas sectors.
​
She has worked on seismic and well data interpretation with Schlumberger, contributing to field operations through tender preparation and contract management. At Metalex, she combines her field expertise with data-driven approaches to support sustainable mineral exploration.
​
At Misitu Africa, Deborah serves as our Sustainability Lead and Copywriter, where she channels her passion for resource efficiency, GIS, and data analytics into advancing community-focused and environmentally responsible initiatives.

Moses Chiposa
Chief Forestry Officer (Project Lead)

Moses is the Chief Forestry Officer at Misitu. He oversees the technical aspects of project development.
​
Moses was previously the CEO of Plant-a-Million Zambia, a social enterprise that helped corporates to sponsor afforestation and reforestation efforts.
​
He worked in various roles at companies that developed sustainable timber in Zambia.
​
He holds a Diploma in Agriculture from Israel, a degree from in forestry from Copperbelt University, Zambia and Masters degree from Beijing Forestry University, China.

David Makayi
Community Liaison Officer

David serves as the Community Liaison Officer at Misitu Africa, where he acts as the primary communication bridge between the project and local communities in the Ikelenge District.
​
With a background in education and community leadership, David brings a deep understanding of local dynamics, trust-building, and participatory communication.
​
David has served as a Headteacher and Educator for several years, holding a Bachelor’s Degree in Education.

Paul Kanema
Technical Forestry Advisor
​
Paul is the Technical Forestry Advisor at Misitu Africa. He provides technical oversight on forestry and conservation initiatives within the project, ensuring that all field operations align with sustainable forest management practices.
​
He brings extensive experience in forestry, conservation, and environmental data management, with strong competencies in data collection, map reading, and community engagement techniques.
​
Before joining Misitu Africa, Paul worked on various forestry programs focused on ecosystem preservation and rural livelihood enhancement in Zambia.
He holds a Diploma in Forestry from the Zambia Forestry College and several professional certifications that have strengthened his technical and analytical capabilities in forestry management.
