
Beekeeping
Beekeeping already exists within the community, but currently, only a few
individuals are involved in this activity. This project aims to commercialize beekeeping, expanding
participation to create employment opportunities and increase sources of income. In addition to
providing an alternative livelihood, beekeeping supports pollination services crucial for ecosystem
health and agricultural productivity. By scaling up beekeeping, communities can reduce their
dependence on environmentally harmful activities like logging or unsustainable farming practices. Furthermore, commercializing beekeeping will open markets for honey and other bee-related
products, potentially even for export, enhancing economic stability while promoting pollinator
conservation.

Orchard Establishment
Establishing orchards with fruit-bearing trees not only provides
nutritious food but also aids in reforestation efforts. There is plenty of plain land available that will be utilized for setting up these orchards. By creating habitats for various species, orchards contribute to biodiversity enhancement and support wildlife. Additionally, they can serve as buffer zones
between natural ecosystems and human settlements, minimizing human-wildlife conflicts while promoting conservation.

Poultry Farming
Poultry farming offers a sustainable protein source, reducing the pressure on
wild populations through hunting and overfishing. By providing a viable alternative, it helps in
conserving various species that might otherwise be exploited. Moreover, promoting sustainable
poultry farming practices can lead to the preservation of habitats that would otherwise be converted for agricultural use, thereby contributing to conservation efforts indirectly.

Rocket/Cook Stoves
The distribution of efficient cooking stoves reduces fuelwood consumption mitigates deforestation and improves indoor air quality. By lessening the demand for wood as fuel, these stoves directly contribute to conservation efforts by preserving forest ecosystems.Moreover, improved air quality leads to better human health outcomes, resulting in a healthier
population that can actively participate in conservation initiatives.

Fast-growing Species Plantations
Planting fast-growing species helps restore degraded landscapes, stabilize soils, and provide sustainable resources. By reducing the pressure on
natural forests, these plantations contribute to conservation by preserving existing biodiversity hotspots and preventing further habitat destruction. The fast-growing species to be planted is solid bamboo. Emphasis will be placed on the management or control of bamboo, while also promoting the planting of clumping types due to their fast-growing nature (BHG, 2024; Fast Growing Trees, 2024).

Capacity Building
Empowering communities with knowledge and skills in sustainable land management and conservation techniques enhances their ability to manage resources effectively. The project area is blessed with energetic youths who can be trained and engaged to contribute significantly to the development of their communities. By promoting sustainable practices, capacity-building initiatives not only contribute to long-term conservation efforts but also help communities adapt to environmental changes. This approach fosters a sense of ownership and stewardship over their natural resources, ensuring a more resilient and empowered community.

Non-Wood Forestry Products (NWFPs)
Harvesting NWFPs sustainably provides communities with valuable resources while preserving forest ecosystems. By promoting sustainable harvesting practices, communities can meet their needs without depleting natural resources, thus contributing to conservation efforts. Some common NWFPs in the project area include caterpillars, mushrooms, wild fruits, and honey. These products will be processed or dried to enhance their value and enable export to international markets, such as the United States, for better economic returns.
